Marshals & Officials

If you are able to help in the safe and successful running of the Jim Clark Rally, please use the details below to offer your assistance.

The Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally requires a small army of volunteer marshals and officials to help the safe and efficient running of the event. If you think you can help, please read on…

Marshals, rescue crews, timekeepers, recovery operators and all volunteers on any motorsport event are key to ensuring the safety of all those involved in the sport. As the most popular closed road event in the UK, the Jim Clark Rally requires a significant number of volunteers both on and off the stages to run the rally.

To volunteer to marshal, you must be a Motorsport UK accredited marshal although if you are not yet accredited, you are still able to marshal on the event as we can team you up with an experienced team member for the day.

We have roles on the stages, on the timing teams and other areas of the event and if you would like to get involved, please volunteer by using the below form or contact the relevant staff member using the details below.

All Signed on volunteers will receive:

  1. Subsidised camping at rugby club. Refunded after event

  2. Marshals goodie bag from sponsors

  3. Discount on food from Blackadder Mini market and Deli

  4. Entry into the North of England tarmac championship end of year marshals draw

  5. Marshals prize draw prizes include

With the cost of fuel, accommodation and food getting more expensive. The Beatson’s Jim Clark Rally team will be providing a £20 contribution for every marshal who signs on for the event i.e one per marshal for the weekend(£10 for a cadet marshal). We are really grateful for our band of volunteers who make sure the event runs safely and hope this makes a little bit of a difference to their expenses.

We also have a HUGE range of Marshal’s prizes on offer, with every signed on volunteer going into a draw to win:

2x all expenses trip to a top uk rally school

A day out driving an e-type jaguar and aston martin including lunch

Stunt driving experience (Paul Swift)

Motorsport UK’s online training and accreditation scheme for Rally Marshals is part of the RallyFuture campaign to further enhance safety on UK stage rallies. Its purpose is to ensure that all Rally Marshals have a common understanding of their roles and responsibilities, the management of spectators and how to handle and manage an incident.

There are four modules: Roles & Responsibilities of the Marshal; Spectator Management, Incident Management and Incident Handling, as well as an online assessment. It should take a maximum of one hour to complete.

To get started, CLICK HERE to log in to the Learning Hub and then follow the relevant links. If you cannot remember your password, please contact the Motorsport UK Membership Services Team on 01753 765 050.
