As one of the most popular closed road events in the UK, the Borders Competitions Jim Clark Rally requires a significant number of volunteer marshals and radio marshals both on and off the stages to help the safe and efficient running of the event.
To volunteer to marshal, you must be a Motorsport UK accredited marshal although if you are not yet accredited, you are still able to marshal on the event as we can team you up with an experienced team member for the day.
We have roles on the stages, on the timing teams and other areas of the event including the Service area and if you would like to get involved, please volunteer by using the below forms or contact the relevant staff member using the details below.
All Signed on volunteers will receive:

Free Camping
We have arranged free camping at Duns Rugby Club for registered marshals.
This offer is available on Friday and Saturday nights. Toilets will be available along with shower facilities on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

To become an Accredited Motorsport UK Rally Marshal:
Motorsport UK’s online training and accreditation scheme for Rally Marshals is part of the RallyFuture campaign to further enhance safety on UK stage rallies. Its purpose is to ensure that all Rally Marshals have a common understanding of their roles and responsibilities, the management of spectators and how to handle and manage an incident.
So how do you register?
- Go to the Motorsport UK Website and check out the information provided about being a volunteer – including training
- Then head to Member Registration and click the button to ‘Join Now’
- Follow the instruction to set up a profile including uploading a photograph.
- Complete the online Accreditation Course
Once you have completed the online Accreditation Course on the Learning Hub, you may then apply to become a Registered Marshal with Motorsport UK. You will then:
- Receive a Marshal’s tabard, registration card and Personal Record Card (PRC), so you can keep a log of your activity as a valued volunteer in the sport
- Receive access to Motorsport UK’s Member Benefits Scheme
- Receive the monthly Motorsport UK newsletter and quarterly magazine
